Draft 0.1
Cited GeoJSON
Map features that carry their evidence. Cited GeoJSON is a profile of GeoJSON for sharing places, borders, roads and buildings together with the sources they come from: which book, map or dataset, where in it, what it supports, and how scanned maps were fitted to the earth.
A Cited GeoJSON file is ordinary GeoJSON: QGIS, MapLibre and every other GeoJSON reader open it as is. Tools that know the profile can also show, check and exchange the citations. The same structure serves real history on OpenHistoryMap and invented worlds on Open Fantasy Maps.

The citation names the source, the exact passage (by quote and by section), which parts of the
feature it backs (name and when), and how the information was taken
(transcribed). The source itself, with its file and checksum, is listed once per file in
sources.
Built on existing standards
- GeoJSON (RFC 7946) foreign members, and
conformsToas in OGC JSON-FG; whenfrom the Linked Places Format, with EDTF dates;- selectors from the W3C Web Annotation model and ontorag-provenance;
- georeferences as IIIF Georeference Annotations (Allmaps);
- a JSON-LD 1.1 context, and a converter to ontorag-provenance that validates against its SHACL shapes.
